Yes, it’s about those pesky mustard gas cylinders again. Kirkby Lane will be closed from from November 20 to 1.30pm November 25, due to the decontamination work in progress. To judge by the positions of the road signs the closure seems to be between the old chicken farm (opposite “Woodlands”,) and the junction with Woodland Drive.
There is also a sign at the Woodhall Spa T junction (B1191) but did nobody (e.g. Lincolnshire County Council Highways Department,) have the wit or courtesy to place a sign at our end of the lane or at the junction with Wellsyke Lane?
NB: According to East Lindsey District Council, who are coordinating the project, the time and date of the end of the closure has been changed to 1pm on November 25.
The bar at the Ebrington Arms was packed at lunchtime today as local historian Edward Mayor launched his fascinating historical map of Kirkby on Bain. Copies were selling fast at a fiver each and Edward was thrilled at the response to his latest initiative.
