Annual Parish (Village) Meeting 2019

You are invited to this year’s Annual Parish Meeting, scheduled for 6.30pm,Thursday June 6th, in the Primary School Hall, Wharf Lane, Kirkby on Bain.

As well as a Public Forum, this year we plan to offer a fascinating talk about the roman farm recently discovered near to our village, given by archaeologist Lydia Henry from Heritage Lincolnshire, a tart-tasting session, and a name-the-footpath competition. Children from the school have been invited to entertain us and of course refreshments galore will be freely available.                 Continue reading

Annual Parish Meeting 2018

Those who came along to the village school hall last Thursday were treated to an entertaining and informative evening, organised by  Parish Councillors. After the Primary School choir got us in the groove with three songs, Alwyn Killingsworth spoke about the forthcoming Heritage Weekend which this year would be tied in with the Open Church Weekend on 8/9 September.

Councillor Pat Tartellin then talked about a new programme of Kirkby on Bain walks organised by herself and Councillor Penny Stones. Pat also said she was hoping to get Kirkby on Bain included in the Wolds Walking Festival and although too late for this year, she was optimistic for next year.

After a refreshment break during which we were invited to sample biscuits and vote in the ‘Bake a Biscuit’ competition, keynote speaker Eran Bauer gave a fascinating talk about the recent mustard gas major incident in Kirkby Lane which attracted so much national media attention at the time. Parish Council update: July 2017

A scheduled meeting of the Council was held on Thursday July 6th, in the Primary School Hall, Wharf Lane, Kirkby on Bain, starting at 7.00 pm.

One member of the public attended, and the Chairman extended a warm welcome to Lincolnshire County Councillor Bradwell, who was able to offer useful advice and information during the meeting.

Of particular interest:

It was agreed that this year’s Annual Parish Meeting was a success, and that a similar format might be used in future. The events sub committee is now planning an apple-themed village festival, scheduled for October 8th. (Item 043).

Disappointment and frustration were expressed regarding the failure of BT / Openreach to install fibre broadband in the village despite a previous assurance that we would have it by now, made at an earlier Parish Council meeting by Paul Bimson, BT Regional Partnership Director. (Item 045).
