Public Transport

Like many English villages, Kirkby on Bain is not the easiest place to get to or from if you don’t drive! Here are some possibilities:



Buses: CallConnect is a service operated by Lincolnshire County Council. Until April 2011, a scheduled service connected Kirkby on Bain with Woodhall Spa and Horncastle, but now if you need a bus you have to book ahead to arrange a pick-up time and place. Brylaine runs a limited service to Horncastle (Brylaine 7/8/9), which you can pick up in the village at the bus stop next to the phone box.

Brylaine also operates a daily circular service (ic5) to Boston and Lincoln via Metheringham and Coningsby, which you can pick up in Woodhall Spa at the bus stop opposite the police station on the Broadway.

LincsInterConnect run an hourly service between Lincoln and Skegness, which you can pick up in Horncastle town Square. Download Timetable (pdf)

Rail: The nearest railway station is at Metheringham, which is on the East Midlands line between Lincoln and Peterborough. The Brylaine bus ic5 service from Woodhall Spa does stop at Metheringham station, but connection times are not synchronised. East Midlands Trains.

Airports: The nearest civil airports are Humberside and East Midlands. Unfortunately there are no direct bus or rail services from Kirkby on Bain or the nearby towns.
