Only weeks away now for that weekend when Woodhall Spa once again rolls out the time machine and sets the dial to the1940s. This year the festival is scheduled for the third weekend in July – 15 / 16th, so if you enjoy flypasts, parades, period costumes, big band music and the like, all to be found in one of the most attractive villages in Lincolnshire, then you know where to be that weekend.
Though the festival proper is scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday, there lots of warm-up events happening on Friday July 14, including “They called me Al” (Bowlly!) with Brandyn Shaw, here on the Petwood Hotel Terrace and an Evening Concert with Damaris Jean and Steve Green at the Golf Hotel. Both events are free. Details of all Friday events here. Please note – the Friday Evening Dance at the National Golf Centre is now sold out.
There are some significant developments afoot this year. The organisers aim to build on the success of last year’s weekend, which attracted 40,000 visitors, to make further improvements to parking and shuttle buses and to introduce some new features, to be announced as and when confirmed, and another innovation concerns the crucial support two of Woodhall Spa’s leading tourist attractions:
“We are incredibly lucky to be delivering this year’s festival with our Lead Allies The Golf Hotel & Aqua Sante Spa – Woodhall Spa and Petwood Hotel. Because of these two wonderful village hotels, we can make the 2017 event happen. When you’re here for the Festival, be sure to visit both locations as they not only have plenty of fab food, lovely bars and gorgeous grounds but they will both play host to a range of entertainments and re-enactments throughout the weekend.” [Facebook, May 22]
