Horncastle and ELDC Councillor Fiona Martin announced at a town council meeting last Tuesday evening that as part of East Lindsey District Council’s latest review into car parking, there may be a 30-minute free parking period in the Market Place in future. While stressing the proposal has yet to be ratified, Councillor Martin said that combined with the retention of all day free parking at The Wong this could only benefit the town.
It strikes me that it would also benefit residents of neighbouring villages such as Kirkby on Bain who lost access to the only bank in Woodhall Spa in 2012 after it’s ATM was robbed by ram-raiders in 2010. If the proposal goes through, you’ll have the choice of three banks opposite the market place without shelling out for parking. But you’ll have to be quick!
