Parish Council update

A scheduled meeting of the Council was held on Thursday January 5th, in the Primary School Hall, Wharf Lane, Kirkby on Bain, starting at 7.00 pm.

Following an interesting presentation by Amaryllis Midgley on developments at Jubilee Park in Woodhall Spa, a member of the public reminded councillors of serious concerns over the state of roads in the village. Thanks to both for bringing these matters to Councillors’ attention and to East Lindsey District Councillor Craig Leyland for his helpful advice on other matters arising from the meeting. Items on the agenda included:

  • Community Speed Watch Scheme update
  • Village Signs update
  • Standing Orders and Code of Conduct amendments
  • Annual Village Meeting sub-committee report
  • Village hall report
  • Planning matters

Regrettably it was not possible to discuss the Equinox festival situation with Tattershall with Thorpe Parish Council, as intended, as no representative responded to the invitation to attend the meeting.

Since the meeting, Councillors Briscombe, Dewrance and Stones have met to progress arrangements for the forthcoming Annual Village Meeting. Provisionally this event is now scheduled for May 18th 2017 and all are welcome to come along. We hope to offer you a lively programme including:

  • A bake-off competition
  • Entertainment by primary school children
  • A photographic competition
  • Presentations by invited speakers
  • Public Forum
  • Refreshments

Not necessarily in that order!

The school hall was packed for last year’s event, and we hope to make this year’s village get-together even more successful. Remember, this is a chance to air your ongoing concerns about village life, and have a bit of fun into the bargain. We’ll keep you up to date as we firm up on the agenda nearer the big day.
