Two applications have been made to hold music festivals this summer at Scholey Park, near Kirkby on Bain.
Earlier this week an open-ended application for a festival called Shanti was heard by East Lindsey District Council Licensing Sub-committee. A one-year licence was granted after due debate. This licence allows the organiser, whose aim is to raise funds for the Lincs2Nepal Charity, to play live and recorded music from 10 am to midnight on Friday 1 July and Saturday 2 July, and from 10am to 11pm on Sunday 3 July. One objection was made by a local couple who have suffered distress from noise nuisance during festivals held previously on this site.
Another application, relating to a proposed festival at Scholey Park, called Equinox, has been lodged by an unrelated company, Medieval Chemistry Ltd., Now under consideration by East Lindsey District Council Licensing team, this application seeks permission to play live music from 10 am to 2 am and recorded music from 10 am to 5am on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September and both live and recorded music from 10 am to midnight on Sunday 18 September.
The organisers of this proposed event attended the last meeting of Kirkby on Bain Parish Council to give a presentation and answer questions from councillors and local residents. Subsequently the Parish Council resolved to submit an objection. I also understand that several residents have submitted individual objections and that others intend to do likewise. Previous post
