Only three weeks to go, so here’s a selection of festive events this month to put on your calendar, as advertised in the traditional way:
December 4th: Victorian Christmas at the Cottage Museum. The Museum will be decorated with a Victorian style tree, garlands and traditional decorations. Displays of Christmas Past including toys, games, festive food, tableware, cards, presents and more. Costumed characters, craft activities and story-telling. Also open on December 5,12 & 15. Christmas Craft Fair at St Peter’s Church, 6 – 8.30 pm. If you are in the village for the Woodhall Spa Christmas Fayre, call in at the church for craft bargains and a hot drink. Free admission.
Christmas Coffee Morning at St Peter’s Church, December 5th, 9.30am – 12 noon. Stalls, raffle etc. Admission £1.50, includes a drink and a cake.
Chrismas Fayre & Jumble Sale, Coningsby Helping Hands: Coningsby Community Hall, December 5th at 2pm.
Christmas at Tattershall Farm Park: Craft Fair, Santa’s Grotto, hot chestnuts, festive menu, carol singing from 2 pm. Gates open at 10 am. Details on Facebook
Christmas Fayre at Our Lady and St Peter’s Catholic church hall on the 5th December. 11.30am – 2pm. Soup and rolls available as well as opportunities to buy Christmas cakes, cards etc. There will be a raffle for a large hamper of Christmas goodies and Pauline Rayfield will be there flying the Weleda flag again.
Candlelight Carol Service at St Leonards Church, Kirkstead. December 6th, 3pm
The Horncastle Tree of Light will be lit on Friday December 11th.
Christmas is a time for families and friends, for celebrating and for giving; it also offers a chance to remember the loss of loved ones and to think about those less fortunate than ourselves. In the past few years through the generosity of our donors, it has been possible to donate £15,000 to the hospices serving our local area. 2015/16 will be the fifth year of the Tree of Light in Horncastle. The Lions and Rotary Clubs are hoping that we can continue to raise lots of money for these truly worthy causes. Details here

New Year’s Eve Dance. December 31, 7.30pm. Dancing to Sparkle Entertainment and John Oakley at Coningsby Community Hall. Bar and buffet. Tickets are £6 each and all proceeds go to Coningsby Helping Hands. Contact Debbie on 07919038750 for tickets or more info.
